Before whe can understand what the marine life that we have, and why we have it we need to understand the oceans delivery systems, as well as the requirements for maintaining stable populations of varius lifeforms. Acceptance of phenommena such as climate change is vital to our better understanding of what is going on arround us
Most marine animals have a freefloating life stage shortly after they hatch from eggs. The duration of this floating, planctonic phase, and the requirments for this free floating stage to settle on the bottom (or join a group of other freeswimming animals) is very important for the distrubution and sustainance of local populations of these animals, particularly around oceanic islands such as Seychelles.
When we understand what we see and why we see it, our marine environment experiances are rendered far richer than a simple sighting. We need to discover the old world before it dissapears.
